Water Audit Council

TRANSFORMING WATER - USE EFFICIENCY
IN THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT

VISION

Creating sustainable communities involves meticulous water management through the implementation of advanced conservation techniques, efficient recycling systems, and the use of sustainable water sources.

The Water Audit Council (WAC) signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with VASSAR LABS on November 21, 2024, at the Indian Plumbing Association’s annual event in Hyderabad. This collaboration aims to revolutionize water management by combining WAC’s expertise in water audits with VASSAR LABS’ advanced technology solutions.
Under the MoU, both organizations will jointly identify and execute projects targeting water sustainability challenges such as urbanization pressures, water wastage, and regulatory compliance. VASSAR LABS will integrate its aqua-facility and aqua-industry solutions with WAC’s audit services, leveraging real-time monitoring and predictive analytics to enhance audit precision and expand into new markets. WAC, in turn, will facilitate VASSAR LABS’ market penetration in India’s built environment while benefiting from their support in entering international markets.
The partnership will also include resource sharing, joint marketing efforts, and compliance tools to ensure that their combined services exceed current water management standards. This collaboration marks a significant step toward sustainable water practices and innovative solutions, paving the way for impactful advancements in water management across industries.
On November 21, 2024, the Water Audit Council (WAC), in collaboration with JLL, launched a white paper titled “Advancing Net Zero Water in the Built Environment”. This insightful document explores innovative strategies and technologies to achieve net zero water in communities, emphasizing the integration of diverse water supply sources, conservation measures, and water reuse approaches.
The white paper highlights cutting-edge technologies such as precision irrigation, water purification systems, desalination techniques, wastewater treatment technologies, and rainwater harvesting as key enablers of the net zero water vision. It advocates for a performance-based methodology to evaluate buildings, making the net zero water approach both comprehensive and user-friendly.
A strong focus is placed on adopting circular economy principles in water management, particularly through wastewater recycling and reuse. This holistic approach is presented as essential for addressing global water challenges and fostering sustainable communities. The collaboration between WAC and JLL reflects a shared commitment to promoting sustainable water practices in the built environment, paving the way for impactful change in water resource management.
